Eleven years ago in July of 2006 a brave Kassie Mastro, Who had been working in bakeries since she was 15 years old, opened the doors of Purdy Hill Bakery. It wasn’t inherited or a family business. She started it from scratch all by herself. She was self-taught gleaning know-how from years of experience.
Today, Purdy Hill Bakery is the only independently owned bakery in Monroe and Kassie is the mother of two-year old twin girls. Her business has also includes a deli side. Knowing customers would want coffee with their fresh morning pastries she put on a pot every morning. For lunch she stocked the best meats, cheeses and “del-accs” (delicious accessories) for her fresh rolls and breads, She added cool salads for summer and steaming soups for winter. And a local destination was born. With her capable staff she manages both sides of the business and parenthood. She also makes time for her special passion – the creative designing of special occasion cakes.
