FRESH FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOU
Gelato Nasufi came from Albania when he was 16 years old and went to work for his uncle in a Westport restaurant. Today he owns the Tuscany Pizza & Deli in Monroe. He works there seven days a week with family. His kids work with him on weekends. When they are all working together that’s his “quality time”. Yet, he makes certain their schooling comes first.
“Education is everything.” says Gelato (Back row, center) and that’s a family affair as well his restaurant deli. His wife Laura (next to him) will be graduating in December with a college degree in Business Management. Daughter Sasha (front, right) just graduated from the University of New Haven bio pre-med and is heading into the Caribbean to study medicine at the University of Saba Medical School. Daughter Mimosa (front left) is a junior at Southern majoring in Public Health. Son Hamit (back left) is a sophomore at UNH majoring in Criminal Justice. Son Joe, who is graduating this year from 8th grade is as yet uncommitted to a career path. Also pictured and working at Tuscany are Gelato’s brothers Elvis and Ronni.
Together the Nasufi family works as a team cooking every day using the best healthy ingredients to create dozens of delicious dishes.
